Family Christmas

We started our family Christmas gatherings off this year on the eve of Christmas Eve.  After supper, the three of us opened our gifts from each other.  Garrett couldn't have been more excited--he had been wanting to open gifts for weeks!  He shook each one and said "What's in it?"  Then he had to tear every bit of the paper off before he would look at it.

Does it get any sweeter?

Santa

This year, we decided to carry Garrett to the Enchanted Forrest at the Pink Palace Museum.  It is a very neat winter-wonderland display that has animated animals, houses of gingerbread and peppermint, dozens of beautifully decorated Christmas Trees, and Santa, waiting at the end.  And the best part is that all proceeds raised benefit Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.  For the older kids, they offer Christmas themed IMAX showing throughout the day, but I didn't figure this little one would sit through an entire show.

So, we just looked at all the pretty decorations.

The most shocking moment!!
Sitting with Santa!  Yes, he did, but I don't think he really wanted to.  You can tell in the picture that he could possibly start crying at any given moment.  However, he was a very big boy.  I think it helped a lot that the 3/4 kids in front of us were really good and went to sit in his lap with out crying, and the added fact that he saw that each one of them got a candy cane after they had their picture made.  And yes, a candy cane is our new favorite candy.

I am still in shock that Garrett sat through this 2 hour show!! He loved, loved, loved it!!

 Loved the cotton candy too!

Mickey was his favorite!

Silly boy loves Santa

First of all, yes this Santa is supposed to be an outside decoration.  But, we put our indoor decorations up so early in November, and I was going to wait about putting the decorations outside so that our neighbors wouldn't think that we were crazy for decorating so early.  So Bo just sat Santa up inside and when it was time to put Santa outside, Garrett loved him so much, we just left him in.
He asked me to take his picture with Santa!  I caught him saying "Cheese".

Parade

Bo and I took my grandfather and Garrett to the Christmas parade.  They both enjoyed it.

Garrett's favorite things were the firetrucks, the bands, the tiger, and the horses.  Oh, and I must not forget the candy :)

Snow

I can hardly believe that we have already had 2 snowfalls, and winter is not officially here!!

The first snowfall started about 10:30 during the last week of November, and these 2 insisted that they must watch!

The second came the first week of December during the morning.  Garrett loved trying to get it on his tongue.

Christmas in Cotton Plant

We carried Garrett to see the Christmas lights and blow ups at Cotton Plant this year, and he loved it!!
As we were leaving he told his Daddy, "Try again Daddy."

We have had our tree up for a month now, and last week I started wrapping presents and putting them under the tree.  Garrett would pick up each one and say 'that mine momma'.  I found it really hard explaining to a sweet 2 year old why his presents are not under the tree.  After about 3 days he is finally getting used to them being there.  However, Santa found out and worked some early magic for this little boy!

So this morning when he woke up, Santa had left him a wonderful breakfast on his table.
snow covered donuts and glacier milk.

Really?

I think he enjoyed :)

Thankful!

I am thankful everyday for this precious boy,

and his sweet smile!

We had a wonderful thanksgiving celebration with our families.

Lots and lots of food, and playing!
