At 18 Months

We went last week for Garrett's 18 month check up.  As we were making our way back to the room, the pucker and tears started, and each time the nurse assistant, nurse, or doctor entered the room, the gator tears would  appear.  This little boy is too smart for his own good-- because he had remembered the previous times when he had to get a shot.  And he didn't like any of them one bit!!  However, this time he got to leave a happy boy--No shots!!

He was 32 inches tall and 25 pounds 4 ounces--at the 50 percentile of both.

 We have one happy baby!

Here are few things that he has learned to do over the past few months:

  • Walking is so yesterday!!  He runs just about everywhere.
  • Has a crazy obsession with rocks--They are everywhere around our house and everytime we go outside, he must pick out the perfect rock or two and carry around.  I think we even have a few that have managed to find their way inside the house and vehicle.
  • Loves chap stick.
  • Wants everything in a drawer or cabinet out in the floor.
  • LOVES to be outside
  • Talks all the time!! If we could only make out what he was saying!!
  • Only recently started back saying dada and mama.
  • However, he can point to most of his body parts--eyes, ears, nose, hair, belly, knee, feet, teeth, and tongue.  I think that is pretty amazing!!
  • Still mostly eats carbs--Favorites are macaroni and cheese, most vegetables, sweet potatoes and his absolute favorite is fruit of any kind.  Just about the only meat he will eat is fish.
  • When he sees a picture of Santa, he says "Ho Ho, Ho Ho."
  • Says "uh-oh", which sounds more like uh-ooh, correctly.
  • Climbs onto any and everything--He can climb on just about anything!!
  • I believe he would stay up all night if we didn't make him go to sleep--He gets way too much energy after supper!!  However, nap time is the total opposite--you can say "Are you ready for your nap?" and he most of the time he starts running for the bedroom.  Still has to have passy and blanket to go to sleep.
  • Loves to be around other children--whether he knows them or not.
  • Can point to family members and pets by name either in a picture or in person.
  • Still thinks that all animals are puppies and that they all bark!
  • But, you can ask him how a cow goes, and he says "moo", and ask how a snake goes and he says "ssss".
  • Remembers EVERYTHING!!
